AD: Design by Delarosa is a drawing business specialized in fulfilling visual art orders for profile pictures, discord banners, and any specialized wishes you may have. The company has already made plenty of customers happy, such as Budo who remarked "WOAHHH THIS IS SO PEAK" upon finally receiving his order. All these services are attached to a quality-guarantee and a price of just 75 tau (for specific profile picture requests).
Delulu’s Presidency, which actually in the end wasn’t hers anymore, but rather her Vice President Sam’s after her resignation, is coming to a close, with the polls for the 150th Presidential Election already having opened. With this in mind, I thought it might be interesting to reflect a bit on what she has done during her term and everything else.
The 149th President of SimDemocracy Delulu was sworn into office on the 26th of August together with her Vice President Sam. The two had run in many Presidential Elections together before, but this was the first time they saw electoral success. She won with the ticket of the Fucking Best Party (FBP), a relatively minor sideline party founded by Sesruinen in late 2024, making it one of the few parties from before the danyowave still up and running even despite multiple rebrands, first to the “United League for the Evolution of SimDemocracy’ Society (UNLESS)”, then to the “Party of Evolution”, until finally the party decided to return back to its roots a few months ago, giving itself the name “Fucking Best Party” again.
She won the runoff against Lemon Party candidate Medmouse with an advantage of seven points. In a certain sense, the 149th Presidential Election was actually one of the more interesting ones in recent history due to the Electoral Commission having accidentally left the ballots open for too long which resulted in multiple votes being submitted after the usual 24 hour deadline. Election Supervisor Syndicality decided not to count those votes, but if he had decided otherwise, Tripod of the Momentum Party would have been the runner-up. In that case, Delulu would’ve only had an advantage of four votes.
Running on a promise of establishing new advertising programs in order to get new users into SimDemocracy, perhaps it was no surprise that she won: One of SimDem’s problems with the longest history has been the gradual decrease in activity since the danyowave. While the server is still operating at roughly 300.000 messages per month, this number has steadily gone down since January. Governmental departments are scrambling to find competent people willing to work for them which has led to some users (Muggy) staffing up to eight jobs at once.
This is a promise she attempted to fulfill in many ways: Firstly, through the new “Department of Growth” she founded which would be put in charge of “population growth” as she put it in her executive order. I have written ostensibly about the establishment of this new government agency and the failure of its first major operation in other articles already, so touching on that topic in more detail would be a bit redundant. Secondly, through the “Democratic Expansion Program” which would essentially be tasked with encouraging democratic movements in other online communities, thus perhaps attracting users from there to SimDemocracy. The Department of Defence, the department responsible for this, has issued no public statements on any operations it began under this new program yet.
The second major promise of her campaign was the establishment of the “Tau Zone” which she actually already fulfilled in her second executive order. The Tau Zone, modelled after the real-life Eurozone, would be a multi-server economic pact allowing foreign nations to use SimDemocracy’s currency, the tau, within their borders, or set up official exchanges between their local currency and the tau. So far, the Senate is still debating on whether to ratify the Tau Zone Charter, the international treaty affiliated with the Tau Zone, within SimDemocracy itself, while the Department of State has already begun scouting for potential allied servers that could be admitted into it. So far, nothing has been set up yet, but large projects like this one rarely realize themselves within just one week.
Concluding this article, Delulu’s Presidency was one of kickstarting new projects that would be beneficial for the future of SimDemocracy, but don’t show any immediate results. Perhaps because of this, it might be classified as boring and peaceful.
