“Expansion Day” event fails horribly

AD: Design by Delarosa is a drawing business specialized in fulfilling visual art orders for profile pictures, discord banners, and any specialized wishes you may have. The company has already made plenty of customers happy, such as Budo who remarked "WOAHHH THIS IS SO PEAK" upon finally receiving his order. All these services are attached to a quality-guarantee and a price of just 75 tau (for specific profile picture requests).

On the 4th of September, Secretary of Growth Tripod announced a new event hosted by his department: the “Expansion Day”, an event with a long history tracing back to the earliest days of SimDemocracy's long legacy. In the first expansion days where SimDem still used to be much more reddit-focussed, users would create crossposts from r/SimDemocracy to other subreddits in order to get people from there to potentially check out the simulation.

Coincidentally, the last expansion day was actually about one year ago from this one, namely on the 7th of September, where President Dovahkiin announced that his administration would give a reward of 200 tau and a special commendation to the citizen who achieved the most upvotes on foreign subreddits with crossposts.

The Secretary’s new revision of the expansion day isn’t quite exactly like that though. Instead of rewarding users for crossposting on reddit, they would be rewarded for directly inviting their friends and acquaintances to SimDemocracy. This would be achieved by having any invitees fill out a form so the department knew who invited who. Perhaps accommodating inflation, Tripod also significantly increased the potential prizes to be won in comparison to Dovahkiin’s: The user who invited the most people would receive 500 tau, whereas the second and third place would also be honoured with a consolidation price of 250 tau.

In what is perhaps another coincidence, both of these events were complete and utter failures. President Dovahkiin failed to get even a single person to put up even just one crosspost, desperately telling citizens on the following day that the administration would double the prize for anyone who attempted to do any sort of crossposting, even if that was after the already elapsed deadline. In a similar fashion, Secretary of Growth Tripod also had to make it known that a grand total of zero new users had filled out the prepared form when the original deadline ended. Trying to save his event, he extended the deadline by another day. At the time of writing, there still are a few hours left, but when taking a look at the expansion day’s past success, it seems as though SimDem users are just generally disinterested in participating in such an event.
