A History of the Lemon Party (Pt. 1)

Link to the original news post

The recently established news organization “Behind The Whip” of Bill Rocky Moor has published a few articles on both the Liberal Democratic Party’s and the Momentum Party’s internal structure, policy proposals, and history. With that in mind, I thought it might be interesting to mirror this style of article a bit by detailing the Lemon Party’s history.

Before the actual article begins, I’d just like to mention that I, the author of this article, am a member of the Lemon Party myself, and thus - as comes naturally - cannot report on this issue completely unbiasedly. While I do intend to provide a neutral approach to the material at hand, I of course cannot completely subdue my internal biases. sorry :(

The Lemon Party was initially founded by a small group of immigrants fleeing to SimDem from the foreign polsim r/ElectedDemocracyChess due to the rampant inactivity there. Deciding to continue the Lemon Party they had previously run, Oofoofow and Korez decided to (re)found the party in SimDem under the same name. Going on a bit of a tangent, the LP - in some senses - still is an “international” party, with there existing a “Lemon Republican Party” in the Bicamel Republic.

The party saw its first major success when Korez was very closely elected to the Presidency on the 4th of June 2024. He won the 117th Presidential Election on a promise of finally making the proposed SimDem economy functional, and of breaking up the SPQR-SDNP hegemony that had ruled the nation for months now, having provided four of the last five Presidents.

While the next four Presidents after Korez’ term all were of this aforementioned SPQR-SDNP alliance, the party continued achieving moderate electoral success with multiple of its candidates, such as Average787Enjoyer and Hazzy, getting elected to the next few Senates and enacting important reforms.

On the 12th of August of 2024, this period of middling successfulness was ended by Hazzy getting elected to serve SimDemocracy as its 122nd President, running on a promise of expanding SimDem’s economy by having the government sell goods such as cosmetic discord roles to citizens. Another one of the major actions of his Presidency was having SimDem join the League of Servers, an international UN-style cooperative between discord polsims, which has since become a great point of debate in SimDem politics.

In the following months, the Lemon Party continued seeing relatively high success, having become one of the two main parties in SimDem politics besides the SPQR party, and providing multiple Presidents and Vice Presidents, as well as Senators.

This settlement was significantly shaken up at the beginning of 2025 though, when the popular youtuber Trolligarch (aka Danyo) published a video about SimDemocracy, causing up to one-thousand immigrants to join it, which - as you can probably imagine - came with significant alterations to the political landscape.

This is the first article in a short series I’m planning on writing on the history of the Lemon Party; the second (and final) entry in this series is going to be about the LP’s history “post-danyo” from the beginning of 2025 to today!
