Just hours after entering office, Senator Notcom motioned to impeach Senator Xi4, citing that the party whose leader he is and whose banner he ran under, the Legal Union, is mostly populated by users suspected of being TIDE alts, or in some cases even proven to be in a court of law. As proof she brings up that most of the Legal Union’s members created their account in February 2025 on dates very close to each other. Lastly, she presents the Senate with screenshots of the internal TIDE discord server, where ready2endrose encourages others to vote for the Legal Union.
Xi4 dismisses the claims, arguing that no proof of him himself being a TIDE member had been presented, and that these loose ties do not constitute a proof beyond reasonable doubt, and thus shouldn’t be grounds for impeachment. Furthermore, he argues that he is not responsible for who votes for him, only for his own policies. For this, he cites his dedication to transparency and activity. Lastly, he accuses Senator Notcom of political bias against him, “berating anyone who joined less than a week ago” and defamatory harassment, bringing up his old civil complaint against Notcom and some others.
During the Impeachment Hearing, Senator Notcom recognized multiple security specialists who previously served in the Office of Homeland Security or SimDem Bureau of Investigation to help his case. Both of them, Tie and Bill Rocky Moor (anaphase_andy) went on to agree with her point, arguing that there was some evidence pointing towards multiple members of the Legal Union being alt accounts.
The following is a quote of one of the “national security experts” recognized by Notcom during the hearing, Bill Rocky Moor:
“There is nothing to suggest the evidence is fake. The people who gathered it are experienced and experts in their field. And 3-5 of you party members have known connections to TIDE”
The debate then went on to spiral into further technicalities about the defamation civil suit requested by Xi4, what the Senate or individual Senators should consider as grounds for impeachment, what “beyond reasonable doubt” means in this context, etc..
Finally, after multiple hours of debate, Senator Xi4 himself motioned to end the debate and hold a vote. But not without requesting that Senator Notcom recuse herself due to her apparent conflict of interest, which she did comply with by abstaining from the vote. So far, 6 of the Senators eligible to cast a vote in this matter voted “Aye”, whereas only one voted “Nay”, so the question of whether Xi4 should be impeached will now go to referendum, for the public to decide.
