AD: Design by Delarosa is a drawing business specialized in fulfilling visual art orders for profile pictures, discord banners, and any specialized wishes you may have. The company has already made plenty of customers happy, such as Budo who remarked "WOAHHH THIS IS SO PEAK" upon finally receiving his order. All these services are attached to a quality-guarantee and a price of just 75 tau (for specific profile picture requests).
On the 28th of June 2025, I decided to found the “Miasma Post”, a newspaper that would regularly report on political, legal, and community-related topics within SimDemocracy. I had been independently writing news articles for a while before that already, starting on January 1st, seemingly with the inspiration to keep the wave of activity created due to the mass immigration at the time alive.
Active and high-quality journalism creates a dynamic political environment and a generally more involved community. Members can easily grasp events that transpired while they were at sleep, in school, or otherwise unavailable without having to sift through endless amounts of discord messages by simply reading a nicely compiled summary of them, perhaps even with commentary. Furthermore, it encourages users to take political action by creating a dynamic response to their doings through publishing news articles that could even mention their name, thus engaging them even further.
While this might have been my original intention behind getting into reporting, it seems as though the Miasma Post diverted a bit from that original goal throughout its lifespan, at times even publishing articles with the clear intent of getting a political message out to the public, such as “Memento: The banning of Nf19”. Although currently I believe I’m just doing this job since no one else is doing it, and there should exist at least a minimum of journalism-related activity, even when there is no giant wave of new people that need to be kept engaged, the maxime that journalism is a basic requirement of any active political system still holds true, as even in times of drastically lower activity the system needs to be kept dynamic and engaging.
In the last paragraph I touched upon “there being no one else doing the job”. While that is (of course) factually untrue due to there existing multiple other news organizations, I have to (quite cynically) note that these are rather inactive, or do not provide reporting on day-to-day political events. It cannot be denied that this type of journalism is also doing an important job at keeping SimDemocracy alive, but it is rather doing so at a grander scale than the Miasma Post is doing, providing the community with analysis of the larger and more systemic issues/problems of SimDemocracy rather than of day-to-day politics.
Having come to this conclusion, I am obliged to remark and declare to everyone that I am the only thing standing between SimDemocracy and its death. I am the demarcation of light and dark. I am the wind that chimes in the twilight. I am the sky of glass. I am the waterfall of the tears of the angels.
