SimDemocracy establishes Clash of Clans Colony

Four days ago, on the 26th June, the Senate passed SB 10, the Clash of Clans Colony Establishment Act, an Act which would create a SimDem clan within the mobile game “Clash of Clans”.

Clash of Clans is a strategy game where players can design and upgrade their bases, collect resources and attack other people's bases. It’s also possible to team up with other people by making clan, which the bill would do for SimDem.

The bill’s author, Deus (@doc.cortex), has said the following on why it would be beneficial for SimDem to establish a clan in the mobile game:

“I wanted to expand our colonies. Nation-states is a simple [text-based] simulation with limited features and Minecraft costs money to play. So not enough people will be interested. Having a Clash of Clans colony would give SimDemmers a way to interact outside of discord and it adds another layer of activity.”

Deus also expressed optimism in regards to the amount of people that might join, predicting that about 5 to 20 users would come.

But all of this didn’t happen due to ex-President hmquestionable vetoing the Act. The reason for this was quite mundane, namely the bill not complying with the provisions and requirements for founding a colony laid out in Article 14 of the Constitution (“The Colonies”).

The ex-President and Deus then went on to work on a new updated version of the Act together, which would comply with the required constitutional provisions. Notable changes include the formal addition of a Charter for the colony, and the guarantee of SimDem rights to Clash of Clans players within the colony.

The updated version, SB16, was then passed by the Senate on the 30th of June (today), and referred to newly elected President Birdish (@birdish152), who then went on to finally sign it into law.
